A heartbroken mother has urged the Scottish government to change legislation surrounding Fatal Accident Inquiries.Ruth Moss has waited an agonising six-years to discover whether the death of her teen daughter, Sophie Parkinson, could have been prevented.During that time the case has suffered numerous delays and been passed between four procurator fiscals.The FAI was finally due to be heard last month but was postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak.Mrs Moss has severely criticised the handling of Sophie’s case.And she’s been forced to spend tens of thousands of pounds on a legal team to ensure it does not become a “tick box” exercise.As well as using all her savings, she has borrowed money from generous relatives and friends.
