An intensive care doctor in Liverpool claims hospitals were 'better prepared' for the first wave of coronavirus than they are now.
The medic, who works at Royal Liverpool Hospital, fears people are 'not getting the whole story' and are still treating Covid-19 like the flu.
It comes after a councillor revealed that intensive care units in Liverpool are more than 90 per cent full as the city battles spiking infections.
Strict restrictions, including closing pubs and preventing indoor household mixing, came into force in the city yesterday. One Liverpool doctor, who did not want to be named, said hospitals were better prepared in March because elective surgery was curtailed in the hospital, freeing up staff.
