A special visitor has been helping lift the spirits of Wigan schoolchildren during lockdown. Pupils at RL Hughes Primary School, in Ashton-in-Makerfield, have been visited by the school's very own dog Albie.
So far, the beloved pet has been to see more than half of the school's 460 pupils. The two-year-old golden retriever is an important part of school life, having been at RL Hughes since he was a puppy.
Prior to lockdown, pupils were rewarded for good behaviour by being allowed to spending time with Albie - either by feeding him or taking him for a walk.
In an attempt to bring a smile to their faces during the difficult period, assistant headteacher Lisa Tarbuck decided to take Albie out to see pupils.
