A man has appeared in court accused of murdering his “lovely” wife during coronavirus lockdown. Anthony Williams, 69, was arrested after cops received a 999 call to his home in Cwmbran, South Wales, on Saturday morning.
Cops found his “devoted” wife Ruth Williams “unconscious and unresponsive” and suffering from severe head injuries. The mum-of-one tragically later died in hospital.
Williams today appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court where he spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, and address in a two-minute hearing.
He will appear at Cardiff Crown Court tomorrow. South Wales is one of Britain's worst-hit coronavirus areas with over 500 confirmed cases of the killer bug.
