Israelis who keep beards for religious reasons will be given specially-made face masks to protect them from the deadly coronavirus.
Government officials said they would dole out the protective face gear instead of asking men to shave. It is Israel’s latest attempt to battle the Covid-19 pandemic with people being asked to cover their mouths and noses last week.
Many of the country’s Jews, Muslims and some Christians keep beards for religious reasons and officials looked into how they would be accommodated.
Itamar Grotto, the country’s Health Ministry Associate Director-General, said masks would be manufactured to fit their faces.
