FOX 29's Lauren Johnson has more. PHILADELPHIA - The controversial statue of former Philadelphia mayor and police commissioner Frank Rizzo has been removed from the plaza in front of the Municipal Services Building.
Crews worked during the early morning hours Wednesday to uproot the polarizing statue. The 10-foot tall structure was lifted with a crane and hauled away in the back of a truck.
The mayor's office says it will be placed in secure storage pending a further decision. "The statue represented bigotry, hatred, and oppression for too many people, for too long.
