John McGinn has revealed the key selling point that convinced him to join Aston Villa after talks with boyhood heroes Celtic.
The Scotland midfielder moved to Birmingham two years ago from Hibs after Celtic had had three bids booted out. McGinn has gone on to become a star for Villa in the Premier League - scoring 10 times in 26 appearances for club and country last season.
Celtic fans were left frustrated after seeing their club ousted by Villa who eventually agreed a deal worth up to £3.5m for the former St Mirren star.
But McGinn says there was more to his decision than just a fee being agreed between the clubs - even though his heart had been set on joining the Hoops. Get all the latest Celtic news sent straight to your Inbox every
