Salford now has the highest coronavirus infection rate in the region, replacing Manchester. Both boroughs are edging towards a rate of 500 cases per 100,000 people.
The infection rate for England continues to increase but the national average remains considerably lower at 172. In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 380 cases per 100,000 population.
