Lena Dunham celebrates ‘freedom’ as she marks two years of sobriety

Lena Dunham marked two years of sobriety by reflecting on the “need to be free”. The Girls creator and star revealed she was keeping clean in October 2018, when she told Dax Shepard’s podcast Armchair Expert that she was six months sober after “misusing” anti-anxiety drug Klonopin for years, and on Friday she reached the two-year milestone.

Lena celebrated by posting a selfie while in coronavirus isolation with the caption: “Today I have 2 years clean and sober. It’s a miracle I can’t take for granted no matter how hard I try.

Two years ago I didn’t think I needed to get sober. “But a quiet voice inside me said, “lay it down for a moment” and then other, louder voices helped me keep it up.
