Weather Authority: Below-average temperatures set to continue Monday with rainy, windy conditions

PHILADELPHIA - Monday will be the perfect day for comfort food as the Delaware Valley sees a chilly day with rain and cold wind chills. Below-average temperatures are set to continue, with morning temps lingering in the low to mid-40s, giving today's forecast the score of a 4 out of 10 from the FOX 29 Weather Authority Team. FOX 29's Sue Serio says an off-shore storm is bringing cold wind chills to the area and heavy downpours to some parts of the area. A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for parts of the Jersey Shore and Dover, Delaware and a Coast Flood Advisory is in effect for areas around the Delaware River. Days of rain could bring two to four inches to the inland parts of the Delaware Valley, while the shore could see four to six inches of rain. Looking ahead, Tuesday will also be a chilly and rainy day in the Delaware Valley before temperatures increase Wednesday as the sun returns to the forecast. ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Flooding concerns became all too evident Sunday, as the remnants of Hurricane Ian flooded roads down the shore and some interior sections of Philadelphia suburbs.Route 40 into and out of Atlantic City was closed because of flooding. Some of the streets looked like rivers and water even towered high above storm drains.Route 30 out of Atlantic City was also closed for a period of time because of coastal flooding.Some roads were also reportedly underwater in Sea Isle City and Wildwood.Ocean, Atlantic, and Cape May Counties in New Jersey are still under a coastal flood warning.

Weather Authority: Cold front brings chilly temperatures, windy conditions for first full day of fall

PHILADELPHIA - You'll notice a big difference in temperatures for the first full day of fall on Friday. The autumn equinox occurred at 9:09 p.m. on Thursday night and a cold front brought a major temperature change for September's final weekend. If you're heading to the Jersey Shore to celebrate the end of summer, be aware of the high rip current risk caused by Hurricane Fiona. The Delaware Valley will see temperatures in the mid-60s under partly cloudy skies. Windy conditions, with 15 to 25 mph winds, will make the temperature feel much cooler. Beachgoers urged to avoid ocean as Hurricane Fiona churns miles offshore

WILDWOOD, N.J. - As Hurricane Fiona continues to churn miles offshore, forecasters are urging beachgoers to avoid the water during the first weekend of the Fall. The National Weather Service issued a High Surf Advisory in the wake of a powerful hurricane that bowled over Puerto Rico and neighboring islands. "With the risk of the rip currents and strong surf, we are really asking: Don't enter the ocean this weekend," North Wildwood Beach Patrol Chief Bill Ciavarelli said. The popular Jersey shore town is expecting hoards of people to celebrate the Irish Festival this weekend. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES"You want to sit on the beach with the sweatshirt on late September, hang out with family and friends, that’s fine we just don’t want to see you enter that ocean," Ciavarelli said. It will be tough for surfers to heed authorities warning, with the angry sea likely to produce tempting waves and swells. "This is the surf season – September and October – because all the hurricanes come up the coast and give us a push," local surfer Mark Zee said. While the Wildwood beaches are unguarded, rescue crews will be on hand for emergency situations.

Police say they developed information that the suspect's car was at a residence on Buck Road near the border of Salem and Gloucester Counties. After executing a search warrant on the property Tuesday, detectives located the suspected vehicle hidden in a wooded area and they collected DNA evidence. HARRISON TWP, N.J. - Harrison Township Fire Chief Matthew Cardile remembers exactly where he was when the powerful remnants of Hurricane Ida put his town in the crosshairs of a EF-3 tornado. "I never thought in 28 years of doing this business that I would see something like this," Cardile told FOX 29's Jennifer Joyce. "This is like something you see in the movies." Cardile captured the devastating scene from afar, recording the twister with 150 MPH winds and heavy rain as it bowled over a quiet community in Mullica Hill. Philadelphia ranked at number 5 out of 182 cities, making it one of the most stressed in the country.
