HAVERFORD, Pa. - The suspected ringleader of a group of Delaware County teenagers accused of assaulting other teens in videos posted to the internet has been charged. FOX 29's Kelly Rule reports that unnamed teen was sent to juvenile detention Thursday on a number of charges, including robbery, assault, terroristic threats and unlawful restraint.The charges come after a video showing a group of teens surrounding and assaulting a freshman boy near the Skatium on Darby Road on Sunday night."It hurts me, because, ten on one is a bad situation," said Joe Walker, a parent of the assaulted teen. Canadian Food Inspection Agency is asking Canadians to keep an eye out for an invasive bug that could spell disaster for the country’s wineries and fruit growers.The spotted lanternfly is a pest native to China that has been making inroads in the United States since 2014.Thus far, the small grey-and-red insect with spotted wings has not been found alive in Canada. Avian flu outbreaks confirmed on B.C., Alberta farms after brief pause in cases But in early September, hundreds of adults were found in a residential area in Buffalo, N.Y., just 45 km away from the Canadian border.The reports set off alarms at the CFIA, which in a tweet last week asked Canadians to report any sightings of the pest on this side of the border “immediately.”The insect feeds on sap, mainly from fruit trees, and can cause serious harm to orchards and vineyards.“We’re becoming more and more concerned about the proximity to Canada, and particularly our grape-growing industries, because this is a pest that has had significant impacts on the grape and fruit industry in the United States,” said Diana Mooij, a specialist in the invasive alien species program within the CFIA.The first North American sighting of the pest was in Pennsylvania in 2014, and since then, a tracking program monitored by Cornell University has documented the pest in 14 U.S.

Fanta Bility shooting: 3 Sharon Hill officers charged in child's shooting death due in court

SHARON HILL, Pa. - The three Sharon Hill police officers charged in the death of Fanta Bility, 8, are due in court Monday. Officers Devon Smith, Sean Dolan and Brian Devaney are each charged with 12 criminal counts of manslaughter and reckless endangerment in relation to the August 2021 shooting. The officers were also fired from the force following the fatal shooting. Authorities say Bility and her family were leaving a football game at Academy Park High School when a shooting between two men erupted in a crowd of people. Bullets from the shooting were fired in the direction of the three officers who were monitoring the crowd. PHILADELPHIA - A Delaware County man is crediting his overindulgence at a Philadelphia Phillies dollar dog night promotion with saving his life. Bill Finn said he went to the fan-favorite promotion at Citizen's Bank Park last September with a goal to pack in as many hot dogs as he could. "I was going for my record, like eight," Bill told FOX 29's Chris O'Connell. The next morning Bill woke up with a wicked stomach ache that he attributed to a hot dog hangover, but his symptoms persisted for more than a week. Over the next seven months, he received aggressive radiation and chemotherapy. Elderly woman hospitalized for trauma after suspects rob her home in Delaware County

PROSPECT PARK, Pa. - Prospect Park Police are investigating a theft against an elderly woman who they say was simply gardening in her front yard when she was taken advantage of by two suspects. On September 12, police say an 83-year-old woman was approached by two suspects, who they later identified as Anthony Miguel, 29, and Tasha Delmaro, 31, at her home in Prospect Park. Authorities say the suspects asked the woman about the RV that she had in her driveway as a way to distract her while she was mindlessly gardening. While the woman was chatting with Delmaro about the RV, authorities say Miguel asked the victim if he could use her bathroom and she gladly agreed and let him inside. Instead of using the bathroom, officials say Miguel took all the jewelry he could from the victim's home. FOX 29's Sue Serio says the Delaware Valley will see muggy conditions with severe storms that move in during the afternoon commute. The humid air is being caused by a warm front that is in the area. It will be followed by a cold front that is set to bring severe storms to the Delaware Valley in the afternoon.
