Phil Murphy removing most local control over where offshore wind projects come ashore.

Ulta theft suspects used unoccupied baby stroller to hide stolen goods, Pa. State Police say

(FIle Photo) PHILADELPHIA - Two people were arrested and charged after police say they used an empty baby stroller to steal fragrances from a Pennsylvania beauty store.Pennsylvania State Police say troopers responded to the Ulta Beauty at 833 North Krocks Road in Lower Macungie Township on Thursday afternoon for a report of retail theft. Police say two suspects, a 22-year-old man and 32-year-old woman from New Jersey, entered the store pushing a baby stroller. There was no baby inside.MORE HEADLINES: The suspects were then observed taking multiple fragrance bottles from the store shelves and placing them in the unoccupied stroller before leaving the store, according to police. After further investigation, Pennsylvania State Police later learned the same man and woman had gone into an Ulta store in Spring Township, Berks County. Spring Township police responded to that location and took the suspects into custody.

MERCER COUNTY, N.J. - Public schools in Ewing are expected to be back to a regular schedule Wednesday after a note found in the pocket of a man accused of a mass shooting at Michigan State University prompted all schools to shut down for the day.Anthony McRae, 43, has been identified as the suspect who opened fire inside an academic building at Michigan State University, killing three people and injuring another five. Investigators say he later killed himself when confronted by police.Authorities then found a note in McRae's pocket that "indicated a threat to two Ewing Public Schools." NEW YORK - The man alleged to have been behind the wheel of a U-Haul truck that struck multiple people on and off the street in Brooklyn has been charged.Police say Weng Sor, 62, a man with a significant violent criminal history in Nevada, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder.Police said at a press conference on Tuesday that after interviews with his family members and interrogation, they believe Sor was suffering from a mental health crisis. The NYPD announced Wednesday that Weng Sor, 62, a man with a history of mental illness and violent criminal incidents, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder after going on a rampage in a U-Haul truck in Brooklyn, striking pedestrians and killing one man.According to NYPD officials, Sor, who lives with his mother in Las Vegas, traveled to West Palm Beach in Florida on February 1 to rent a U-Haul truck. On February 5th, while traveling through South Carolina, en route to New York, he was stopped for reckless driving and marijuana possession by highway patrol. 65-foot whale washes up on New Jersey beach

MANASQUAN, N.J. - Officials in New Jersey are investigating the death of another whale after they say one washed up on Manasquan's inlet beach on Monday. Police say they are unsure of what kind of whale it is, but they guess it's a calf, roughly 65 feet long. Authorities say they are pulling the whale out to more shallow water with hopes it doesn't get caught in the rocks. They say they do not have an exact time frame of when the whale will be removed, but it is expected that it will remain on the beach until Tuesday.The Marine Mammal Stranding Center, located in Brigantine, is volunteering with the investigation of the whale death, type, and cause of its arrival to shore. In Toms River, police said they received a call regarding a "potential shooting" at Toms River North High School. Authorities say the school was locked down, but the call was later deemed to be an unfounded threat. Police are investigating it as a swatting incident, which occurs when a prank call is placed to draw a large police presence at a specified location. In Vineland, police say they are also investigating a threat. Barnegat High School also received a threat Friday, according to police. Officials say officers responded to the building and found "no indications reports of anything occurring." Bengal Boulevard will remain closed as officers investigate. Surrounding schools in Barnegat were placed in a shelter-in-place status when the threat was reported. PHILADELPHIA - A third person has been arrested and charged in connection with chaos that erupted at an unsanctioned car rally in Wildwood. Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Wildwood Police Department Chief Robert Regalbuto announced the arrest of 18-year-old Zion Diaz of Hammonton, New Jersey, on Wednesday. Officials say on Wednesday morning, detectives executed a search warrant at Diaz' residence and arrested him without incident. According to the Prosecutor's Office, he was charged with 4th-degree riot and released on a summons. Sutherland says Diaz was identified as a person who instructed others at the unsanctioned rally to block intersections, do burnouts and block police cars from responding to emergency calls when chaos erupted in the streets of Wildwood on September 24. After the chaos, there were several reports of car crashes, injuries and damaged storefronts. Wildwood officials inspect massive destruction of beach after days of rain, wind

NORTH WILDWOOD N.J. - The sunny day finally gave people down the shore the chance to check out any damage and start the clean-up process, after several days of rain and flooding.The mayor of North Wildwood, New Jersey is calling on state and federal governments to fulfill what he calls their "legal and moral" obligation to approve a beach replenishment project along the dune at the end of 15th Street.The dune was lashed in the early-week storm causing what city engineer, Jim Verna, describes as "massive damage" and making the dune vulnerable to a breach, endangering what he said is, "…millions of dollars in private and public infrastructure damage."RELATED COVERAGE:Verna, wearing a blazer and sunglasses, walked the wounded dune surveying the damage in the early afternoon.
