A 58-year-old woman who spent over four weeks on a ventilator in a medically induced coma after contracting Covid-19 has thanked the nurses and staff for all their care.
Laura Barry from Drogheda in Co Louth was admitted to hospital on 1 April displaying symptoms of Covid-19. Her condition deteriorated rapidly and she was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital.
She spent six weeks there and four were spent on a ventilator in a medically induced coma. Doctors at the hospital hailed her as a 'medical miracle'.
During her time in hospital she underwent a tracheotomy and her family say that she began to turn a corner after that. Today, Laura Barry left hospital to a round of applause from the doctors and
