Mikel Arteta has opened up on the "difficult state" that Arsenal were in when he took over as manager. The Spaniard replaced the sacked Unai Emery last December with the team struggling in Premier League mid-table mediocrity.
Fans and players alike were seemingly feeding off the poisonous atmosphere at the Emirates and all in all the club was not a good place to be around.
Since coming in though the new man has brought a fresh approach to the Gunners that was starting to pay dividends up until the coronavirus outbreak.
Arteta has made the team much harder to beat and more defensively sound, something that has not been the case in recent times.
