Millions of school children will get an extra week at home after the Christmas holidays so schools can start rolling out Covid testing.
Older students will be told to study at home online instead while primary school kids, key workers' children, or pupils taking exams next year will go back as usual.
The returning students are set to get rapid Covid-19 tests that give results in 15 minutes so that schools can make sure kids haven't picked up a bug over the holiday period.
The Army is being called in to help teachers swab teenagers in secondary schools and colleges, according to The Sun. Those kids who haven't been called back will be given a set time to go in and get a Covid test, while studying from home.
