More lives lost to coronavirus in Greater Manchester as North West becomes UK hotspot once more

Twenty more people have died after contracting coronavirus in Greater Manchester. The region's hospital death toll now stands at 1,867, according to the latest NHS data.

In today's figures, the North West was once more the hotspot for coronavirus deaths across the country, with 30 recorded. In comparison, the North East and Yorkshire had 24 deaths, the Midlands 18 and London nine, NHS England said.

In Greater Manchester, twelve more COVID-19 deaths were recorded at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. - the NHS trust in charge of Stepping Hill Hospital.

Six more lives were lost at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, while another death was recorded at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
