FDA revises rules on COVID-19 antibody testsThe Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today said that it's revising a policy that aimed to accelerate the availability of COVID-19 antibody tests in the wake of reports that some companies have been marketing fraudulent tests.Under the policy that the agency issued on March 16, makers of tests, which can determine whether an individual has previously been infected with the novel coronavirus, were allowed to market and sell their devices to certified clinical laboratories without FDA review, as long as the tests had been internally validated and weren't being used for diagnostic purposes.
