The National Library of Ireland is to collect and preserve artwork by children who entered the RTÉ news2day annual Christmas art competition.
Children from around the country drew pictures inspired by their experience of Covid-19. The theme was 'celebrating Christmas 2020', but most of the entrants chose to include some element of the Covid pandemic in their work.
A record number of over 10,000 paintings were submitted and they contained everything from masked santas to zoom conversations with relatives, as well as lots of social distancing and other reminders of the pandemic.
It shows just how carefully children have been listening to the news this year, and the significant impact the pandemic has had on their lives.
