Lanarkshire were sent to private hospitals during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic than the rest of Scotland combined.
A freedom of information response from the Scottish Government passed onto the Local Democracy Reporting Service has revealed the extent to which COVID-19 forced NHS Lanarkshire to rely on the private sector in the first six months of the pandemic.NHS Lanarkshire said they "experienced a higher proportion" of coronavirus cases than other parts of the country and that "for safety reasons" they could not "see the usual number of patients in our existing hospitals".Head over to our new Lanarkshire Live Facebook page to make sure you're up to date with the top stories in the regionAcross the region, at least 9105.
