NPHET say 4,000 positive Covid-19 cases not yet reported

The number of new cases of Covid-19 is expected to rise sharply in the coming days as a backlog of positive cases is officially confirmed to the National Public Health Emergency Team.

The chair of the NPHET's Irish Epidemiological Modelling Advisory Group, Professor Philip Nolan, said he estimates there are around 4,000 positive cases that have been reported by laboratories in the last few days but have yet to be officially confirmed.

Professor Nolan also warned of difficult weeks ahead, as the number of patients admitted to hospital suffering from the virus continues to rise.
