The National Public Health Emergency Team will not hold a public briefing this evening but will make recommendations to Government on Wednesday.
NPHET will meet that day before holding discussions later on Wednesday evening with the Government's Cabinet Covid Committee.
This will be followed on Thursday by full meeting of Cabinet where the expected easing of restrictions for May will be finalised.
The meeting will also set out a plan for continued reopening of society and the economy in June and July. Government sources described the decision by NPHET not to hold a briefing this evening as "the norm" on a week when a major Government announcement is due.
