Health campaigners have blasted the latest coronavirus “shielding” advice for millions of patients with very serious underlying conditions.
More than two million people who shut themselves away during the first wave of the pandemic do not yet need to shield again, the Government said.
But some in the highest risk zones maybe told to if cases spike locally. As cases surge across the country, new guidance was issued to the “clinically extremely vulnerable” who previously shielded, setting out what they should do depending on the Covid-19 alert level in their area.
But the move triggered a backlash among some charities, which said vulnerable people may feel forced to go to work. In Tier 1, where the alert level is medium, they will be told to
