Passengers set for 'emotional' reunions as US flights resume

Emotions ran high at Dublin Airport today as the travel ban to United States lifted allowing families to be reunited. There were queues at the check in for US bound flights, something that has not been seen in a long time.

Both excited and nervous, Elaine Caldwell arrived four hours before her flight was due to depart for New York. Her voice breaking with emotion, Ms Caldwell said she was going to see son, daughter-in-law and new granddaughter. "She's a year old at the beginning of December.

It's very emotional," she said. Ms Caldwell's son has been living in Albany for twelve years and, before Covid, she travelled to see him two or three times a year.
