Scots son cleared of murdering mum in knife attack on mental health grounds
murdering his 74-year-old mother was today cleared on mental health grounds.Trevor Kidd, 42, was today found not guilty at the High Court in Glasgow of murdering his mother Maureen Ann Kidd at her home in James Grove, Kirkcaldy, on March 19.Judge Lady Stacey acquitted him and sent him to the State Hospital on an interim compulsion order.Mr Kidd was accused of attacking his mother and stabbing her repeatedly on the body with knives.The charge against him also alleged that Mr Kidd inflicted blunt force trauma to her head "by means unknown".Kidd appeared via video link from the State Hospital.Defence QC Donald Findlay entered a not guilty plea on his client's behalf because of Mr Kidd's mental health at the time.Prosecutor Michael Meehan said:
