A Perthshire minister is offering online memorial services in place of public funerals due to the coronavirus pandemic. Rev Dr Marjory MacLean records the service alone in a church after speaking with bereaved families then posts them to YouTube the same day as the committal service.The minister at Abernyte, linked with Inchture and Kinnaird and linked with Longforgan, hopes the service will enable people who would ordinarily attend services to pay their respects, watch the service in the safety of their own homes.She decided to act after a raft of restrictions on traditional funerals were brought in by the Church of Scotland to try and stop the spread of the potentially fatal COVID-19 virus.
