Police say a man was found floating in a river in Bridesburg on Wednesday morning.  PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are investigating after a man's body was found floating in a river in Bridesburg. According to police, a 37-year-old man was found floating in the river by a person walking by just after 9:30 a.m. Authorities say crews responded to the area near the 3200 block of Buckius Street in Bridesburg and the man was pronounced dead around 9:45 a.m. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESSKYFOX flew over the area and observed several police cars on scene. Police say the man's death is under investigation. 

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - More than 20 years after an unknown young boy was found dead in a South DeKalb County cemetery, Georgia law enforcement have made a breakthrough in the mystery of the child's identity and alleged murder.At a press conference Wednesday, the DeKalb County District Attorney identified the boy as 6-year-old William Dashawn Hamilton, a boy who had recently moved to the Atlanta area from Charlotte, North Carolina with his mother."At every turn this case ran cold, until now," DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston said.On Feb. 26, 1999, a cemetery worker preparing for a funeral found the boy laying in a field. Investigators discovered someone laid out his body.

Police say a 14-year-old girl, who was a person of interest in the beating death of James Lambert Jr., has turned herself in.  PHILADELPHIA - A teenage girl is the latest to turn herself in for the attack on an older man who later died after she and a group of other teens assaulted him with a traffic cone. Police say a group of teen offenders was wanted in connection with the death of James "Simmie" Lambert Jr., 73, in June. According to authorities, Lambert was attacked by the group on the 2100 block of Cecil B. Lauren Elizabeth Landgrebe, 50, was sentenced to time in county jail in connection with the death of an infant in her care.  UPPER SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A Bucks County woman has been sentenced to time in county jail in connection with the death of a baby at an unlicensed daycare. According to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office, 50-year-old Lauren Elizabeth Landgrebe of Upper Southampton Township was sentenced to one to two years in county prison followed by 10 years of probation for the death of an 11-month-old girl at an illegal daycare facility run out of her home. Landgrebe was also ordered to have no contact with the family of the victim and she is not allowed to provide childcare or babysit, according to authorities. On August 27, 2019, the baby died from asphyxiation by strangulation after being placed in a car seat incorrectly and left unattended for several hours, officials say. Investigators say Landgrebe placed the baby in the car seat around 1:00 p.m. and then went to lay by the pool at her home.

BREA, Calif. - A manhunt is underway for a gunman after a string of armed robberies at several 7-Eleven locations throughout Southern California left at least two people dead and three others wounded. Police said preliminary evidence indicates at least four of the crimes that occurred early Monday morning are linked to each other.A surveillance photo of the suspect wanted in connection with the incidents at the Brea, La Habra, and Santa Ana 7-Eleven locations has been released as detectives continue to investigate.Authorities said they would be alerting other 7-Eleven stores to take additional safety precautions. Suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of an employee at the 7-Eleven on Lambert Rd and N. PHILADELPHIA - Growing frustration over spiking gun violence in Philadelphia, and concerns about last week’s shooting at the July 4th celebration, has pushed the controversial practice of stop and frisk back into the conversation.Stop and frisk is just how it sounds: police stop someone and search for weapons and contraband.City Council President Darrell Clarke raised the issue last week in a press briefing after two law enforcement officers were wounded just before the start of the July 4th fireworks. "There are a lot of citizens in Philadelphia who talk about when are we going to talk about stop and frisk in a constitutionally enacted way," Clarke said.While Clarke did not endorse the idea of returning to the practice, which critics say unfairly targets communities of color, he did press for a detailed conversation about the stop and frisk policy. "That's a conversation we're going to have," said Clarke.
