Police have been forced to patrol beaches after Brits continued to flout coronavirus lockdown rules - despite the UK enduring its deadliest day of the outbreak yesterday.
Even though 980 lives were claimed by the deadly bug in 24 hours - higher than the number of fatalities in Italy and Spain on the worst days they endured - thousands of Brits continued to pack beaches, parks and streets.
It has prompted warnings that police will get tough over the Easter weekend, as health workers plea with the public to stay home.
Yesterday police patrolled beaches on British coasts warning people to stop sunbathing. And boats are set to be deployed today in order to disperse groups and people who see themselves as above the rules.
