The police watchdog has launched an investigation after a GMP officer Tasered a man in front of a young child at a petrol station.
Mobile footage of the incident involving Desmond Ziggy Mombeyarara, 34, in Stretford was widely shared on social media. Police later said the child was taken to a safe place.
Now the the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has confirmed it has launched an inquiry - sepaparate to court proceedings following Mr Mombeyarara's appearance at Manchester Magistrates' Court.
It said: "On the evening of May 6, officers stopped a motor vehicle on the forecourt of a petrol station on Chester Road, Stretford. "During his arrest, a man was Tasered.
