During the first lockdown in 2020, many patients saw cancer treatments delayed – and it is feared some may have been less inclined to visit their GP over concerns due to fears surrounding the pandemic.But Charles – who is the patron of the Mcmillan Cancer Support charity – fears cancers may have gone unchecked and untreated over the course of the past year.Writing in The Telegraph, he stated: “In many cases, due to the pandemic, difficulties have become crises, a sense of isolation has become actual separation, and – as vital treatment or surgery has in some cases been postponed – anxiety.
