A confrontation is under way in Dublin after a group of around 100 counter-demonstrators tried to rush through crowd barriers to confront about 50 National Party supporters protesting against Ireland's Covid-19 restrictions.
The National Party had organised the Let Ireland Live rally outside the Dáil. Just before it was scheduled to start at 1pm, the counter-protesters arrived down Molesworth Street and immediately tried to remove barriers to get to the National Party rally outside the Dáil.
Gardaí at the scene intervened to keep the two sides apart. However, missiles and crowd barriers were thrown and at least two fireworks exploded.
