R number could be 1.4 in London warns major study with full table of infection rates

The R number for London could be as high as 1.4, a new study has warned. The ZOE Covid Symptom Study UK Infection Survey estimates the UK R number is 1.2 - but different parts of the country are suffering worse infection spikes.

London could be as high as 1.4 with England having a 1.3 average (the same as Wales), whereas in Scotland it is 1.1. The R number is an estimate on how many people are infected from each case.

If it is more than 1 it means the virus is growing in prevelance. There are still large differences across the London boroughs: Havering and Enfield are still the worst affected areas this week, followed by Newham.

Kingston upon Thames, Hounslow and Richmond upon Thames are the least affected areas currently. What do you think
