Racing Post bosses last night announced the trade paper is “temporarily suspending publication” after today’s edition. Sales took a hit when the coronavirus pandemic caused the suspension of racing in Britain on 17 March, with Ireland following suit a week later.
And last Friday the government ordered the temporary closure of betting shops - along with places of public entertainment - in a bid to combat the spread of COVID-19.
With Irish racing cancelled until 19 April at the earliest - and the sport in Britain in abeyance until the beginning of May - Post staff were informed of the news yesterday.
