Jadon Sancho is ready to take the No.7 shirt at Old Trafford and lift the Manchester United curse, according to Rio Ferdinand.

The Red Devils legend has provided his backing to heap the pressure on the 20-year-old’s shoulders from the get-go. United want to bring him back to Manchester this summer and are prepared to fork out a club-record fee on the winger.

Daily Star Sport understands that United are leading the race to land ex-Manchester City youth Sancho and are increasingly confident of luring the £100m-rated star to the club.

It is believed the Red Devils are willing to hand him the club’s famous No.7 jersey in an attempt to persuade him to join too, which would see Sancho follow in the footsteps of some true United greats.
