Scots council suspends recycling and food waste collections amid coronavirus crisis

Recycling, food and garden waste bins will no longer be taken away in a Scots city as council chiefs battle the coronavirus crisis.

Aberdeen City Council bosses have announced the collections will be "temporarily suspended" to protect workers. In a statement from the local authority, residents were told the waste service would be at a "reduced capacity" due to the ongoing covid-19 outbreak.

It adds that recycling centres have also now been closed - although supermarkets still have centres open.
