Two Scots pensioners were forced to pay over £1000 to escape the lockdown in Tenerife after their return flight home was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Richard and Carol Goodlet were enjoying a three-week break when fellow travellers warned them that Jet2 had started axing several departures from the island.
The couple, from East Calder, West Lothian, were emailed by the airline and told their return flight on March 24 had been cancelled and that they would receive a refund.
Richard, 72, tried to call Jet2 and trusted that they would ensure their loyal customers were allocated a flight ahead of a mass hotel shutdown by the Spanish government.But instead the pensioner was left to try to find an alternative flight online for him
