Scots police warn of Amazon scam as fraudsters hack Facebook

Police have issued an urgent warning over an Amazon voucher scam ripping off victims. Scottish Facebook users have fallen prey to fraudsters who hack into accounts and lure people into buying bogus vouchers.

The scam involves the victim receiving a message from a friend on Facebook which tells them they have won thousands of pounds.

But they are told they must purchase up to £300 of Amazon vouchers in order to claim the prize. Police in Tayside have warned that the message is actually from a scammer who has hacked into the friend’s Facebook account.They said they have already had two reports of people being conned by this particular scam, and are urging people to stay vigilant as fraud soars during coronavirus lockdwon.A spokesperson from
