New York Times (6/10, Levine), Hallie Levine writes about her daughter’s inability to participate in “usual” summer activities this year, as she has Down syndrome, and “is at high-risk for [COVID-19] complications.” Although “an intellectual disability itself isn’t a risk factor for [COVID-19]...kids with developmental disabilities often have other underlying medical conditions that could be.” Levine says, “It’s very tough for me to gauge if any activities – even outdoor ones – are safe for Jo Jo or her brothers, who may put her at risk.”
