A GP from Stockport has become one of the first to donate blood plasma to a new clinical trial launched to help patients with coronavirus.
The trial will investigate whether plasma transfusions could improve a Covid-19 patient's speed of recovery and chances of survival.
Dr Catherine Briggs, 46, recovered from the virus and donated her antibody rich plasma, which can be given to people who are struggling to develop an immune response to overcome the illness.
NHS Blood and Transplant is leading the programme on behalf of the Government to collect convalescent plasma from people who have recovered from Covid-19 to support a national clinical trial.
