SEPTA police exchange gunfire with shooting suspect, no arrest reported

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities are searching for a shooter who officials say exchanged gunfire with two SEPTA officers Wednesday afternoon in Kensington.

Officers from the SEPTA Police Department were called to the 3100 block of Kensington Avenue near Allegheny station around 4 p.m.

for reports of a shooting. A spokesperson from the Philadelphia Police Department said officers found a 30-year-old man shot at least nine times.

He was taken to Temple University Hospital where he died. SEPTA says a shootout happened when officers confronted the suspected gunman during the investigation.
