Police in Fife are trying to solve a disturbing crime after several dead chickens were found scatted outside homes like some sinister calling card.

It is believed thugs were responsible for stealing some chickens from a nearby farm before killing them and scattering their corpses on doorsteps and driveways.

The animals were snatched from their home at Easter Cartmore Farm in Lochgelly, some time between Saturday night and Sunday morning, before meeting a grisly end.

Police have launched an investigation to find those responsible for the twisted crime after multiple dead birds were found by horrified residents.
