Singer John Newman's depression forces him to 'pause' music career after tumour battle

Hit maker John Newman has "paused" his music career amid a struggle with depression. The singer and songwriter, 29, has undergone surgery in both 2012 and 2016 for a brain tumour that threatened his sight.

Now, having told of his depression, he's told that he's taking a step back from his prestigious career to focus on getting better.

In a heartfelt tweet, John paid tribute to his dedicated army of fans and urged them to stay positive. He wrote: "To my loyal friends, family and fans i felt i needed to make everyone aware of my future and of my present.
