CHERRY HILL, N.J. - Cherry Hill police are investigating a deadly accident in Camden County involving a vehicle and a New Jersey Transit bus. The accident happened in Cherry Hill on westbound Route 70, at Kings Highway, Friday night, just before 6 p.m. A vehicle crashed into the back of the New Jersey Transit bus, according to authorities. Officials said 14 people were on the bus, which was traveling to Philadelphia from Berlin. Cherry Hill police reported Route 70 westbound, at Kings Highway, was closed as they investigate the crash.

ROXBOROUGH - A car smashed into the front of a building in a hit-and-run in Philadelphia's Roxborough neighborhood.Officials said the accident happened just after 12:30 Friday afternoon on the 5800 block of Henry Avenue.Police say the driver lost control and slammed into the building, after hitting a 32-year-old woman a 9-year-old girl, who were crossing the street.Both of them are in the hospital, the woman suffering severe injuries, is listed in critical condition.

OAK FOREST, Ill. - The Cook County Medical Examiner confirmed four people are dead in connection to a barricade situation and house fire in Oak Forest Friday morning. Oak Forest police responded to domestic disturbance call at a home in the 5500 block of Ann Marie Lane around 6:35 a.m.When police arrived they found two victims with gunshot wounds in the driveway and a third victim in the roadway south of the home. Police pulled the victims into their squad cars and transferred them to a safer location to render aid. The victims were then taken to a local hospital where they were treated and later died. Police and other law enforcement officials established a perimeter around the home where the suspect was barricaded.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - A 22-year-old man has been charged, by the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, in connection with the melee that resulted in two people shot near Temple University, while a large crowd was nearby.Officials say 22-year-old Troy Mullen was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and other related charges for an incident early on the morning of September 17th.According to authorities, the incident happened at 16th Street and Cecil B. Moore Saturday morning, about 12:30 a.m.

MARATHON, Fla. - A boat captain has been charged with manslaughter in a Memorial Day parasailing crash in the Florida Keys that killed a 33-year-old Illinois woman and injured her young son and nephew.Daniel Gavin Couch, 49, was booked into the Monroe County Jail on Thursday and was being held on a $100,000 bond.An investigation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission found Couch cut the line holding Supraja Alaparthi and the two boys because the parasail was "dragging" in high winds from a sudden summer storm.They were still strapped into the parasail as they were dragged across the waves for nearly 2 miles before slamming into the old Seven Mile Bridge, the investigation found.PREVIOUS: Mom killed, 2 kids injured parasailing in Florida KeysFamily members, including Alaparthi’s 6-year-old daughter, were on the boat that afternoon. PHILADELPHIA - The City of Philadelphia is offering a $20,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the death of a Temple University graduate. The shooting occurred on the 400 block of North 35th Street around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, according to police. Officials say Everett Beauregard, 23, left a friend's event in South Philadelphia and used public transportation to get home, getting off of a train in the area of 34th and Market Streets.  (Family Photo)He was going to walk the rest of his way to his apartment north on 35th Street in the direction of the residence, authorities say. Police released surveillance video showing the suspect walk past Beauregard before immediately firing as his back is turned.According to police, Beauregard was struck one time in the back of the neck, severing his spinal chord. After Beauregard collapses, the offender begins running, but fires another shot at the victim as he lay on the ground. Police say the suspect was captured on video surveillance lingering in the area around 11:21 p.m.

WEATHERFORD, Texas - A 12-year-old Weatherford girl and her father have been hospitalized with gun shot wounds after sheriff's deputies say the girl plotted for weeks with a friend to murder their families.Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier says the deputies were called to a shooting with a 12-year-old girl lying in the street with a gun shot wound to the head, her 38-year-old father was found in the house shot in the abdomen.Investigators believe the girl shot her father, fled the scene and then shot herself.Both the girl and her father were flown to the hospital.

CENTER CITY - A Philadelphia man has been arrested in connection with two seemingly unprovoked assaults against students at different SEPTA stations.Officials announced that SEPTA police arrested 27-year-old Torey Egypt Grier Thursday.The assaults occurred September 9th and 13th.MORE HEADLINES:The September 9th attack happened during the morning rush hour at the Walnut-Locust Street Station. A 17-year-old victim was reportedly walking in the station when Grier strangled her, shoving her to the ground with both hands around her neck.He eventually let the girl go and fled the station in an elevator, according to police.Three days later police believe Grier attacked a 13-year-old girl around 7:30 a.m.

PHILADELPHIA - The Marine Toys for Tots program is gearing up for its annual holiday drive, and celebrating its 75th anniversary."We take care of about 16,000 kids a year and we expect that to go up a bit with the way things are," Ed Kenney, Coordinator of Delaware County Toys for Tots, said.But, Kenney and United States Marine Corp Staff Sergeant Abraham Escobar, in charge of Toys for Tots in Philadelphia, say they can’t do anything until both county programs secure warehouse space and they need homes, fast."We receive over 100,000 toys each year and, last year, we helped a little over 50,000 kids, so we need a really large warehouse," Staff Sgt. PHILADELPHIA - Authorities are investigating an early morning carjacking of a Philadelphia mother and her teenage daughter that was captured on video that was later posted to social media. Investigators say the pair were leaving their home on the 8900 block of Maxwell Place around 6 a.m. Monday morning when they were ambushed by an armed carjacker."It appears he was laying in wait," Captain John Ryan told FOX 29's Dawn Timmeny.

WILDWOOD, N.J. - As Hurricane Fiona continues to churn miles offshore, forecasters are urging beachgoers to avoid the water during the first weekend of the Fall. The National Weather Service issued a High Surf Advisory in the wake of a powerful hurricane that bowled over Puerto Rico and neighboring islands. "With the risk of the rip currents and strong surf, we are really asking: Don't enter the ocean this weekend," North Wildwood Beach Patrol Chief Bill Ciavarelli said. The popular Jersey shore town is expecting hoards of people to celebrate the Irish Festival this weekend. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES"You want to sit on the beach with the sweatshirt on late September, hang out with family and friends, that’s fine we just don’t want to see you enter that ocean," Ciavarelli said. It will be tough for surfers to heed authorities warning, with the angry sea likely to produce tempting waves and swells. "This is the surf season – September and October –  because all the hurricanes come up the coast and give us a push," local surfer Mark Zee said. While the Wildwood beaches are unguarded, rescue crews will be on hand for emergency situations.

LOS ANGELES - A new study is calling into question the validity of body mass index (BMI) as a practical way of measuring healthy weight in patients. Researchers for the European Association for the Study of Diabetes in Stockholm say waist-to-hip ratio, and not body mass index is a better measure of healthy weight which may also predict early death better than BMI. Scientists say the new method should replace BMI, which the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention commonly cites as a preferable tool to analyze weight and health. BMI is calculated by taking a person's weight in kilograms and dividing by the square of height in meters, with a BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 considered healthy.

INDIANAPOLIS - After an Indiana judge on Thursday blocked the state's abortion ban from being enforced, phones starting ringing across Indiana abortion clinics, which are preparing to resume the procedure a week after the ban had gone into effect."People are getting the word that abortion is now legal again, and people are ready to get their health care that they deserve and that they desire," Dr. Katie McHugh, an abortion provider at Women's Med in Indianapolis, told The Associated Press.Owen County Judge Kelsey Hanlon issued a preliminary injunction against the ban, putting the new law on hold as abortion clinic operators argue in a lawsuit that it violates the state constitution.Indiana's seven abortion clinics were to lose their state licenses under the ban — which only permits abortions within its narrow exceptions to take place in hospitals or outpatient surgical centers.The ban was approved by the state’s Republican-dominated Legislature on Aug.

PHILADELPHIA - A judge ordered the owners of Lindley Towers in Philadelphia to make all necessary repairs and put safety systems in place after a partial collapse in the building’s facade last Wednesday.Tenants were forced to evacuate and have been staying in temporary housing since then. CHICESTER, Pa. - A local school district is responding to accusations from parents who say a disturbing uptick in bullying and fights have them worried about their children's safety. Just days into the new school year, videos of brutal beat downs at Chichester High School have been posted to social media. One of the recordings shows a 9th grader being pummeled on the school bus, other fights have erupted inside school stairwells and classrooms. One mother who spoke to FOX 29 claimed that both of her daughters were being bullied.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is calling on the Pennsylvania House Committee investigating whether to impeach him to hold open hearings in Philadelphia and allow him to attend and testify on his own behalf.The committee is investigating what they allege is a failure to aggressively prosecute lawbreakers.They plan to hold two days of hearings at the Naval Yard at the end of September.RELATED HEADLINES:Krasner says he was not invited to attend and speak.Krasner, who is on his second term, was first elected to the role in 2017 with a focus on supporting victims, exonerating innocent people wrongly convicted of crimes and reducing the population of local jails.Critics have blamed Krasner and other progressive prosecutors for an increase in gun crimes, while supporters say the rise in crime could be attributed to reduced social services and economic instability caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Irate that a session to discuss a proposed smoking ban during a major casino industry conference was snuffed out, casino workers and patrons opposed to smoking in the gambling halls held a noisy protest outside the meeting Thursday.About 100 people rallied in the rain underneath a walkway outside the Hard Rock Casino, demanding that the state Legislature act on a bill to ban casino smoking that has the support of more than half of state lawmakers and Gov. Phil Murphy.The bill has been stalled without a hearing in a state Senate or Assembly committee, and a similar measure died without a vote last year as well.Thursday afternoon, the East Coast Gaming Congress was to have included a panel discussion on casino smoking, an issue that is roiling workers, customers and lawmakers not only in New Jersey but in states including Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and others.It was scrapped when the casino industry representative, Resorts Casino President Mark Giannantonio, withdrew.

PHOENIX - A suspect accused of kidnapping a man from his Phoenix apartment before killing and dismembering him near Tucson has been arrested.Phoenix Police say 28-year-old Antoine Smith was kidnapped from his apartment sometime between Sept. 16-17 over an unresolved debt."Smith's family attempted to communicate with the suspect 45-year-old John Cole, to ensure Smith's safety," police said in a news release.Investigators say they were able to locate Cole's vehicle on the way to California.

PHILADELPHIA - A Delaware County man is crediting his overindulgence at a Philadelphia Phillies dollar dog night promotion with saving his life. Bill Finn said he went to the fan-favorite promotion at Citizen's Bank Park last September with a goal to pack in as many hot dogs as he could. "I was going for my record, like eight," Bill told FOX 29's Chris O'Connell. The next morning Bill woke up with a wicked stomach ache that he attributed to a hot dog hangover, but his symptoms persisted for more than a week. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES"A week or two he still is not feeling better, and I’m like are you have to go to the doctor but a typical male he didn’t want to listen to me," Bill's wife Heather said.One doctor's visit lead to several over the next few days, and a month later he was diagnosed with stage-4 Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma, otherwise known as blood cancer.Bill started his chemotherapy treatment days before he and Heather welcomed their firstborn son, Ryker. Over the next seven months, he received aggressive radiation and chemotherapy. About a year after what Bill calls a life-saving dollar dog night, the Phillies invited him back to Citizen's Bank Park where he got to go on the field and meet Phillies' legend Charlie Manuel."I went back to work.

NARBERTH, Pa. - An investigation is underway after a teenager was injured in a Narberth shooting on Wednesday night, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office. The DA's Office says a gun was discharged by juveniles inside a home in Narberth, leaving one injured with a non-life-threatening injury. A letter sent to the Lower Merion School District Community and obtained by FOX 29 said students from the district may have been involved. "The nature of that involvement remains unclear at this time, as the investigation into the incident is ongoing," Superintendent of Schools Khalid N. Mumin wrote.

GLASSBORO, N.J. - Public schools in Glassboro have been put under a shelter-in-place order, police say. According to Glassboro Police Department, the school buildings are in a "precautionary shelter in place" as an investigation is ongoing. Police have not said if there is a threat to the safety of schools or released any further information at this time. This is a developing story.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - Controversy in a Bucks County school district and it all comes down to the first name that teachers can call students in class. The district says it's about making sure parents are involved, but opponents are calling it discrimination."This was an extraordinarily different set of instructions than we’ve ever been given," teacher Rebecca Cartee-Haring said.Central Bucks West English teacher Rebecca Carter-Haring says she’s been with the district for 16 years.

PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department are searching for a man wanted in connection with a robbery at a Chestnut Hill bakery. According to authorities, the robbery happened on September 16 at 2:40 a.m. Officials say an unknown man parked a black Nissan Altima at Baker's Cafe located on the 8000 block of Germantown Avenue before pulling on the doors until he could get in. The man stole $1,000 from the store before pulling off in the same vehicle, according to police. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe vehicle involved is described as a Black Nissan Altima with the driver-side back brake light out and a missing front passenger-side hub cap. Anyone with information is urged to contact Philadelphia Police at 215-686-8477 or submit an anonymous tip online.
