Plans to introduce a charge for community alarms in North Lanarkshire have been suspended.Council officials say implementation of the planned cost of £3.40 per week, agreed in the authority’s budget in February, is halted indefinitely while all efforts concentrate on protecting vulnerable people and battling the coronavirus pandemic.Morag Dendy of Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire said: “In light of the current challenges we face in helping to tackle coronavirus, the safety and wellbeing of our residents is our primary focus.“The charge for community alarms is not a priority at this time and will progressed at a later date.”Click here for more news from the Airdrie and Coatbridge AdvertiserNorth Lanarkshire’s budget for 2020-2021
