The Hundred was due to go ahead for the first time this summer in a bumper new deal with Sky Sports. The broadcaster was ready to show live matches in their televised cricket deal worth £1.1b with the ECB.
The competition which has annual running costs of £40m was set to bring in a host of international and domestic stars with each of the eight teams signing three notable overseas staff.
That has now been thrown into doubt by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, with a final decision set to be made next month ahead of the previously announced July start.
The 100-ball matches had come in for criticism from some after it was announced last year, but excitement had been growing about the involvement of some of the best players in the sport.
