The 53-year-old broadcaster first shared the news of Julia's cancer diagnosis last month, explaining that she would be taking some time away from her Radio 2 role in order to care for her mother. "I'm trying to be at work on breakfast as often as I can but occasionally need to be home with my Mama," she said at the time.
