Zoe Ball has been flooded with messages of condolence after she announced the death of her mum, weeks after sharing news of her cancer diagnosis.

BBC Radio 2 star Zoe announced the sad news on social media in the early hours of Wednesday morning (April 24), by sharing a picture of her late mother Julia with her followers and admitting she is "bereft" following her beloved mum's passing.

The 53-year-old broadcaster first shared the news of Julia's cancer diagnosis last month, explaining that she would be taking some time away from her Radio 2 role in order to care for her mother. "I'm trying to be at work on breakfast as often as I can but occasionally need to be home with my Mama," she said at the time. Captioning a picture of Julia on X, formerly known as Twitter, Zoe wrote: "sleep tight dear Mama. thank you for teaching us how to love unconditionally, to always show courage and empathy, and how, even in the darkest of days, laughter is the greatest of gifts.
