TALLAHASSEE – Florida’s proposed $93.2 billion budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins in two weeks, landed on Gov.
Ron DeSantis’ desk Wednesday. The Legislature’s delivery of the budget came a day after DeSantis warned that he will use his line-item veto power to slash the spending plan to help address a coronavirus-fueled loss in tax revenues.
He said such cuts could help keep lawmakers from having to readdress the budget before the November elections.“There’s going to be a lot more vetoes, there’ll be a lot of red,” DeSantis told reporters during a news conference Tuesday.Lawmakers passed the record spending plan March 19 for the fiscal year that starts July 1.
