Thor 'The Mountain' talks world deadlift record attempt - and his very strict diet

You may know him as ‘The Mountain’. But Hafthor Bjornsson is set to go down history as a world record breaker. On Saturday, he will attempt to deliver the heaviest deadlift of all-time by raising 501kg.

Englishman Eddie Hall holds the current crown at 500kg and millions on lockdown across the globe are expected to tune in to watch the towering 6ft 9in giant’s bid.

Thor is no stranger to large audiences, of course. The Icelandic strongman played the role of Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clean for five seasons in the huge TV franchise ‘Game of Thrones’.

Since 2014, the former basketball player, has himself sat on the throne as the strongest man in Europe, before conquering the world two years ago.
