Tom Hanks made his first public appearance since battling the coronavirus when he stunned viewers watching a Saturday Night Live special at the weekend.
The sketch comedy’s regulars performed remotely on Saturday’s (April 11, 2020) episode, and Hanks was a surprise guest host, appearing from his home in Los Angeles. “I have been the celebrity canary in the coal mine for the coronavirus, and ever since being diagnosed I have been more like America’s dad than ever before,” the Oscar winner said. “No one wants to be around me very long and I make people uncomfortable.” Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, tested positive for the virus in Australia last month (March 2o20) and after a brief spell in the hospital in Queensland, they were quarantined
