A number of Traveller organisations have called on Travellers to fully adhere to public health measures, including restrictions on funerals.
It follows a plea from the Deputy Chief Medical Officer earlier this week for people to respect the ten-person limit at funerals because of the number of large outbreaks throughout the country that have been associated with them.
There are 36 active outbreaks of Covid-19 in the Traveller community, and members of the community are now being urged to adhere to public health measures Organisations say no post-funeral social gatherings should take place and that large gatherings for things like months minds and headstone blessings are also not permitted.
