Major supermarkets across the UK will soon be increasing their home delivery slots by 300,000. At the beginning of the coronavirus lockdown, there were approximately 2.1million slots available.
This figure was quickly increased to 2.6million as demand soared. Environment Secretary George Eustice has now confirmed it will increase once again, this time to 2.9million.
But he admitted it will still "not be enough to meet all of the demand". The increase in delivery slots comes after complaints from those who were not eligible for food parcels but were unable to get to the supermarket and don't have a support network.
